Lisa Bleier
Ms. Bleier is Managing Director and Associate General Counsel, Head – Wealth Management, Retirement and State Government Relations at SIFMA. Ms. Bleier serves as the staff advisor for SIFMA’s Board Subcommittee on Private Client/Wealth Management and leads SIFMA’s advocacy on legislation, regulation and business policy that supports the individual investor and the financial advisors that serve them.
Prior to joining SIFMA, Ms. Bleier held positions as Vice President and Senior Counsel at the American Bankers Association, Government Affairs Manager for the American Society of Pension Actuaries, and legislative assistant and counsel for Congresswoman Marge Roukema.
Ms. Bleier is a passionate advocate for enhancing the private retirement system, increasing financial literacy and protecting senior investors. She has provided expert testimony to the U.S. Department of Labor, Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and multiple state regulatory authorities. She is a noted speaker, whose regular engagements include the Brookings Institute, Bipartisan Policy Center, Practicing Law Institute (PLI), WISER (Women Investing for a Secure Retirement), Fiduciary and Investment Risk Management Association (FIRMA), U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). Her publications include “Overhauling ERISA for Today’s Marketplace,” and “The State of Play for Today’s Directed Trustee” for Trust & Investment Magazine.
Ms. Bleier holds a J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and a B.A. from the University of Michigan. She serves on the board of directors for the SIFMA Foundation, a non-profit group dedicated to fostering knowledge and understanding of the financial markets for individuals of all backgrounds with a focus on youth.
