Evan Charkes
Evan Charkes is a Managing Director and Associate General Counsel for Bank of America. Mr. Charkes focuses on regulatory strategy and broker-dealer advice for Merrill and the Consumer Investments businesses, and is counsel to Merrill Private Wealth Management. Mr. Charkes has spent a significant portion of his career supporting wealth management businesses, including at Citi, where he was a Managing Director and Deputy General Counsel for its Global Wealth Management business. Mr. Charkes serves on the FINRA National Adjudicatory Council and is a former member of the FINRA Compliance Advisory Committee. Mr. Charkes was the co-chair of the SIFMA Compliance and Regulatory Policy Committee, the Insured Retirement Institute securities committee, and has been a frequent speaker at the SIFMA C&L Society annual seminar. Mr. Charkes contributed articles to the New York Law Journal and Wall Street Lawyer, and was an Adjunct Professor at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University teaching securities regulation. Mr. Charkes is a member of the Board of Directors of the Pro Bono Partnership, a non-profit organization that provides legal services to nonprofit organizations in Connecticut, New Jersey and New York, and Jazz Forum Arts, which provides live jazz and education in Westchester County, NY. Mr. Charkes is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center and Columbia College.
