In a series of senior roles in recent years, Andrés has been at the forefront of efforts to expand and improve post-trade services that are crucial to the capital markets. Most recently as President and Chief Operating Officer at Baton Systems, a venture-funded fintech that is developing cloud-hosted solutions to change the way payments and settlements are made, Andrés helped scale the business by repositioning the product into a treasury oriented SaaS solution focused on automating and accelerating the movements of cash and collateral for Tier 1 and 2 banks.
Andrés joined Baton from NEX Group, the fintech conglomerate where he was Head of Trade and Portfolio Management as well as Chief Executive Officer and President of the Traiana post-trade services business. While at NEX, Andrés reversed a four-year downward trend in revenue and earnings at Traiana and managed a multimillion-dollar re-platforming project to migrate heritage technology into a new cloud-hosted environment. He also resized the product roadmap of NEX Group’s Infinity platform, which aimed to provide clients with a single point of entry for internal and third party post-trade services.
Before that, Andrés had senior roles at JP Morgan Chase, most recently as Managing Director, Head of Derivatives Clearing for the Americas. Throughout his career at JPMorgan, Andrés led the end-to-end design, build and consolidation of multiple prime brokerage and clearing businesses focused on CDS, FX, IRS and Listed Futures, culminating in the attainment of numerous industry awards and a top ranking in revenue amongst all global clearing businesses. Andrés represented JP Morgan at select clearinghouse risk committees, as well as in external board appointments and industry forums.
A native of El Salvador, Andrés began his career at Banco Cuscatlan in El Salvador. He earned an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a BS in Agricultural Economics from Cornell University.
