Nicole Austin

Nicole Austin is the Senior Vice President and Director of Federal Affairs at the Reinsurance Association of America (RAA).  She has worked in the public and private sectors for over two decades and was recently recognized by Washingtonian magazine as one of Washington DC’s 500 Most Influential People of 2024.  Prior to RAA, Nicole held senior positions at the Property and Casualty Insurers Association of America, the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Financial Services, and in the office of a U.S. Representative.  She has provided strategic advice to federal lawmakers, federal law enforcement officials, and the heads of national trade associations related to financial services, emergency disaster response, tax, and other federal public policy matters important to U.S. national, homeland, and economic security.  Nicole has championed federal initiatives that facilitated new opportunities for the insurance industry, strengthened public-private partnerships, prioritized taxpayer spending and protection, and rooted out waste, fraud, and abuse.  Nicole also serves as an ordained ruling elder and on the Board of Trustees of the National Presbyterian Church.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Hamilton College and completed a leadership program at The Wharton School’s Aresty Institute of Executive Education.
