Evan Charkes
Evan Charkes is a Managing Director and Associate General Counsel for Bank of America. Mr. Charkes focuses on regulatory strategy and advice for the Merrill Lynch and BofA Consumer Investments broker-dealer/RIA businesses, and is chief counsel to their ultra high net worth business, Merrill Private Wealth Management. Mr. Charkes has spent a significant portion of his career supporting wealth management businesses at financial institutions, including in litigation, Compliance and legal roles. Mr. Charkes currently serves as Chair of the FINRA National Adjudicatory Council and is a former member of the FINRA Compliance Advisory Committee. Mr. Charkes was the co-chair of the SIFMA Compliance and Regulatory Policy Committee and the Insured Retirement Institute Securities Committee. Mr. Charkes has been a frequent speaker at the SIFMA C&L Society annual seminar, contributed articles on securities law to the New York Law Journal and Wall Street Lawyer, and taught securities regulation as an Adjunct Professor at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University. Mr. Charkes is a member of the Board of Directors of the Pro Bono Partnership, which provides legal services to nonprofit organizations in Connecticut, New Jersey and New York, and a Board Member for Jazz Forum Arts, which provides live jazz and education in Westchester County, NY. Mr. Charkes is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center and Columbia College. Mr. Charkes holds the Series 7 and 24 licenses.
