Janet Dawson

Janet Dawson is Managing Director and the Americas representative of the Global Foreign Exchange Division (GFXD) of the Global Financial Markets Association (GFMA) and is based in the offices of the Securities Industry & Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) in New York. Janet was previously with Westpac Banking Corporation, where she served as Relationship Manager Institutional Sales and Global Head of Funds in the Financial Markets team.

The Global FX division has 24 global members – between them accounting for a significant portion of the global FX dealer market – and is represented in Europe, North America, and Asia. Working with key regulators, Central Banks and supervisors, the Group monitors policy, and regulatory developments to ensure the establishment of harmonized regimes and infrastructure to enable an effective global market for all participants.

The GFXD also runs several market forums including groups focused on increasing efficiencies and reducing duplication in the technologies used by the industry. Many of these groups are focused on the practical implementation of new technologies and regulations, including topics such as Future of FX, digital currencies, ESG, clearing and settlements.

Janet has also previously held positions as Head of Institutional FX Sales in New York and London, and Corporate and Retail banking roles in Australia, all with Westpac Banking Corporation. Janet obtained a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Oxford, England.
