Kurt Drozd

Kurt has over twenty years of experience utilizing data analytics and technology to assess organizational compliance and conduct tech-enabled investigations for clients globally. Over the past eight years, Kurt has focused on the application of model risk management regulations to technology supporting Financial Crime Compliance (“FCC”).

 

During this time, Kurt has held several roles evaluating the efficacy of technology systems and adequacy of model governance controls. This includes leading the compliance technology workstream on the HSBC Monitorship and assisting multiple financial institutions as they remediate issues stemming from NYDFS, OCC, FRB, and FDIC consent orders. Kurt also works directly with regulators as they revise guidance to help foster adoption of “AI” (artificial intelligence) solutions within the FCC space, and advises government agencies and law firms in the use of technology to complete data-intensive investigations.

 

Earlier in his career, Kurt was in private practice for seven years prior to being appointed as the Head of the Civil Enforcement Division of the Kansas Department of Labor. He began his career at Sprint Nextel where he utilized data analytics techniques to build financial and behavioral models. Kurt holds a B.A. in Economics and Political Science and a J.D. from the University of Kansas. He also earned an M.Sc. in Predictive Analytics from Northwestern University. A son of a military family, Kurt spent his childhood living across three continents. He’s also a father of three and a die-hard Yankees and Jayhawks fan.
