Martin Bentsen

Senior Director, Product Management, FIS

Martin Bentsen is an attorney and accountant and has been involved in the financial services industry his entire career. He brings more than 35 years of experience from a broad spectrum of domestic and international activities. He has served in senior positions on both the vendor and industry sides of the banking and securities businesses.

In his role with FIS, Martin is responsible for the direction and development of various Tax Information Reporting products FIS offers. Along with supporting its customer base in year-end tax statement preparations and return filings, Martin has focused on implementing new IRS regulations ranging from Section 6045 Cost Basis to the soon to be effective Section 1446(f) publicly traded partnership withholding rules. Relying on his understanding of IRS regulations and his ability to apply them to FIS Tax Information Reporting products, he is leading the FIS Product Management Team’s development of a Digital Asset Tax Information Reporting solution to meet the new 2023 information reporting requirements for brokers and digital assets.

Martin has a BBA in Accounting from Bernard M. Baruch College, and a Juris Doctor Degree from New York Law School. He is a current member of the New York Bar. He has also attended the FINRA Institute at Wharton where he attained the FINRA Certified Regulatory and Compliance Professional credential. Previously he was a member of the Information Reporting Program Advisory Committee (IRPAC), and a member of the Internal Revenue Service Advisory Council (IRSAC). He has previously carried the following securities licenses – Series 7 / 8 / 14 / 14A / 24 / 27.

While he has spent most of his working career living in the New York and Denver areas, he has a global perspective from working on projects in Japan, Germany, and living in Mexico City, where he established and managed a ‘banca mùltiple’ under the NAFTA rules. He currently resides in Florida.
