Matthew Grinney

Managing Director, Federal Advocacy, SIFMA

Mr. Grinney is Managing Director, Federal Advocacy for SIFMA. He is responsible for leading SIFMA’s third party engagements.

Prior to joining SIFMA, Mr. Grinney served at the Federal Housing Finance Agency in the Principal Deputy Director’s office and the Office of Congressional Affairs and Communications. As a as a senior policy and communications advisor, he managed special projects for the Director related to credit risk transfers, climate risk, and housing finance reform and led the development of external and internal communications for the Agency.

Previously, Mr. Grinney served as the Deputy Director of Speechwriting for former Vice President Mike Pence, special assistant and speechwriter at the Department of Health and Human Services, communications advisor for Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), and a research assistant at the Heritage Foundation. In his first role on Capitol Hill, he worked for Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC).

Mr. Grinney holds a MBA from the University of Virginia, a MA from the University of Texas-Austin, and a BA from Emory University.
