Matthew Hornbach

Managing Director, Global Head of Macro Strategy, Morgan Stanley

Matthew Hornbach is a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley, Global Head of Macro Strategy, one of eight members of the Global Investment Committee for Morgan Stanley Wealth Management.

Matthew has worked at Morgan Stanley since graduating from college in 2000. He began his career as a Japanese Government Bond trader and subsequently a yen interest rate strategist in Tokyo. Matthew moved to New York to make markets in Treasury Inflation Protected Securities (TIPS), then transitioned back to Japan as Head of Non-Yen Trading in Tokyo where he specialized in US Agency MBS Pass-throughs. In 2012, Matthew returned to New York to run the US Interest Rate Strategy group and became the Global Head of Interest Rate Strategy shortly thereafter. Just prior to completing his 20th year at the Firm, he was named Global Head of Macro Strategy.

He oversees teams of developed and emerging market rates and FX strategists in New York, London, Tokyo, and Hong Kong. Matthew holds a BA degree in economics from Vassar College and a Certificate of Management Excellence from Harvard Business School, is a Chartered Market Technician (CMT), a member of the Fixed Income Analysts Society, Inc. (FIASI), Phi Beta Kappa, and Omicron Delta Epsilon. He regularly appears on Bloomberg TV and CNBC.
