Nekia Hackworth Jones, Esq.

Nekia Hackworth Jones serves as the Director of the Atlanta Regional Office (ARO) for the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission. With over 100 professionals, the ARO conducts investigations into possible violations of the federal securities laws, prosecutes the agency’s administrative proceedings and civil suits in federal courts, and conducts examinations of registered entities and individuals.

Prior to joining the SEC, Ms. Jones was a litigation partner at a large law firm in Atlanta, Georgia. Earlier in her career, Ms. Jones spent nearly a decade in public service, first as a white collar and violent crimes prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Atlanta, Georgia, and later as an Assistant Deputy Attorney General in the Department of Justice’s Office of the Deputy Attorney General in Washington, D.C.

Ms. Jones received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree (cum laude) from Emory University, and J.D. and M.B.A. degrees from Harvard University.
