Ramon Gomez

Managing Director, Regulatory Affairs, JPMorgan Chase & Co.

Ramon Gomez is a lawyer by training whose practice focused on mortgage securitization and capital markets for 25 years before moving to the business and regulatory policy space.

Ramon has been at JPMorgan Chase since 2008, helping coordinate strategic initiatives and providing risk analysis and recommendations on emerging regulations and legislation affecting consumer products, mortgage lending, and capital markets.

Ramon started his career at Fannie Mae.  For 11 years, he helped develop early mortgage securitization products, affordable lending products, innovative global debt products, and derivatives.  Among other things, Ramon worked on the 1992 mortgage reform legislation and on special projects with the Office of the Chairman.  He ended his tenure at Fannie Mae while co-heading their international consulting business unit.

From Fannie Mae, Ramon moved to Merrill Lynch in New York City, where he advised the Asset-Backed Commercial Paper and term securitization trading desks before helping launch the global trading platform MLX as trading operations general counsel.

In, 2004, Ramon joined the management team at Freddie Mac to help address significant control deficiencies, focusing on Freddie Mac’s Investments and Capital Markets Group.

In 2005, Ramon was recruited to serve as principal and resident compliance officer at WAMU Capital Corp., a broker-dealer in New York City.  At WCC, Ramon managed teams handling broker-dealer compliance, operational risk, and investor relations.

Ramon holds undergraduate and law degrees from Georgetown University. He is a member of the New Jersey and DC Bars.  Ramon lives in New Jersey with his wife, two daughters and a dog.
