Thomas Merritt

CHRO and Deputy General Counsel,, Virtu Financial, Inc.

Thomas M. Merritt is the CHRO and a Deputy General Counsel at Virtu Financial. Tom handles several responsibilities at Virtu including heading the Human Resources team and providing guidance on market structure, litigation, and regulatory matters. He first joined Knight Capital Group, Inc. (a predecessor entity to Virtu) in June 2000.

Prior to joining Virtu, Tom served as an enforcement attorney with NASD Regulation, Inc. (now FINRA) in New York. Tom was also a Senior Assistant County Attorney in Suffolk County, New York and worked in private practice.

Tom is a member of the SIFMA Equity Markets and Trading Committee and serves as a representative on the CTA Advisory Committee.

Tom received a B.S. in Business Administration from SUNY Albany in 1986 and a J.D. in 1989 from Hofstra University School of Law.
