SIFMA Municipal Division Recognized by The Municipal Forum of New York

New York, NY, May 11, 2017 – In conjunction with the 25th anniversary of the Urban Leadership Fellows (ULF) Program, The Municipal Forum of New York gave special recognition to Michael Decker, managing director, and Leslie Norwood, managing director and associate general counsel, for their many contributions to the municipal market as well as their active support and collaboration on the ULF Program.  Decker and Norwood are the co-heads of SIFMA’s Municipal Securities Division and were honored at The Municipal Forum of New York’s annual dinner last night in New York City.

“It is an honor to work with such dedicated members, and we appreciate their support of our work with the Urban Leadership Fellows Program,” said Randy Snook, executive vice president, business policies and practices at SIFMA.

“SIFMA is pleased to support the Urban Leadership Fellows Program, as it introduces young people to the municipal securities industry and fosters their interest in pursuing careers in the financial services industry,” said Leslie Norwood.  “We are pleased to be recognized for our participation in this important program.”

Michael Decker noted, “The Municipal Forum of New York provides opportunities for high school seniors to encourage their interest in the financial services industry.  SIFMA appreciates this important and unique work and, on behalf of our members, we are pleased to be honored by the Forum.”

In 1992, the Youth Education Fund Committee of The Municipal Forum of New York, Inc. developed the Urban Leadership Fellows Program with the mission to introduce talented young men and women to the municipal securities industry and inspire them to pursue careers in the field. The ULF Program, which is sponsored by The Municipal Forum, is a paid summer internship/college scholarship program for graduating seniors from New York City high schools who have expressed interest in careers in the finance industry.
